Hey all. It's been a while! I always end up falling off the face of the Earth and then coming back when I start hearing about stuff coming down the road and imagine that, here I am.
Anyhow, a long while ago I got a direct e-mail from Heath about some "sequel" to DAOC and how I should donate money blah blah blah whatever I deleted that shit because I figured it was a hacked account/spam. LOL imagine my dismay when probably about a year to a year and a half later when I go to PAX East in Boston and start hearing about this awesome cool MMO called ArcheAge. I start poking around for that and suddenly I find this awesome MMO in development called Camelot Unchained by the creator of DAOC...>>WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahaha well I guess I seriously missed the boat on the initial "launch" so-to-speak for CU but I have been watching tons of vids, reading etc etc and as I always had a good time with BotF I always tend to dust off the old bookmark and comeback to check in.
I know CU is a way off but is there intent to play? I see the sub-forums for ESO, and maybe a free shard DAOC or something. Is that the current game you guys are spending time in? I hope all is well. Wouldn't mind catching up with you guys and seeing what you all have planned and what your shooting for. Hope to talk soon!

Hey BP, we are currently playing ESO and some are enjoying it some are blah. We aren't really expecting it to take the place of DAOC, but it filling time for now.
We did the origins free shard because we heard the 8v8 action was AWESOME, however we missed the boat by the time we leveled and got to OLD frontiers the primetime USA crew had moved on.
As far as CU we are all going to play there for sure when it comes out. Most of us donated and already have copies reserved because of that, some already are in the Internal testing portion.

Hey Heath! Thanks for the info. It has always been my assumption that BotF's main focus has been DAOC or DAOC-like games. No surprise about ESO. I did beta but wasn't too impressed with it. Some friends are getting into Wildstar so I will do that a bit but that will be a 1 or 2 month thing and I will be done, I can already tell lol.
I was considering tossing a donation at CU so that I can get into the Alpha and Beta testing as well. I'm really excited. To be honest I'm almost glad I'm late in coming to this because I have zero patience and the extra year of waiting would have made me go into a deep depression hahaha! The only downside is that the "Founder" tiers are closed and all I can do is "Builder" tier. I can still get into alpha and beta, but I see the Founder packs and wish I would have listened to your heads up in the first place lol!
Anyhow, great hearing from you. I know it's just filler but is ESO at least solid for the time being? I remember having very high hopes initially, which dissolved into no interest due to the gameplay and UI.

I think there is a nitch that we might be able to have fun with ESO, holding out on making a judgement until I get 50(Currently 40) and we can get a group rolling in the Frontiers Zone. I am mildly hopeful, but not putting alot of expectations on it.
Yeah the Founders Tiers are nice, but you are right about the coming in late being a nice thing. I struggled for a while staying on top of everything thing, then I just had to stop paying attention until there was some more solid information coming out... everything was just conjecture. Once it get a little closer to Alpha (I know several of the guildies have access then) I will probably start ramping up because we should have a solid idea of the combat system by then.

I've read that many people did beta and were not impressed, but then found themselves enjoying the live game.
I did beta and felt it was just so-so, and, so far, I'm still thinking it's just so-so. No change. Something to bide my time. Major caveat; I have not yet been in PvP, so maybe that will pique more interest later on, but for pve, I'd rather just play actual skyrim, honestly. Just my opinion.
Your mileage may vary.

Hey xps! Ya, I'm not a huge fan of the UI and the whole aiming mechanics etc for targeting. In PVE it's a bit of a pain but I can only imagine in PvP. I haven't really played any Elder Scroll games so the lore and or excitement of the franchise moving to MMO was lost on me. I just wanted a good game, with multi realm RvR that allowed small, well organized groups to roam and be effective. Obviously, I didn't get a chance to try that in beta, but from the PVE content it didn't seem like that would be viable in ESO.
Just my opinion but that was my impression from the feel of the game at earlier levels. I know it's arrogant/ignorant to assume nothing changes at higher levels but those things seemed like "foundation" pieces of the game that won't change much from 1st lvl to max lvl (and in RvR) so I got bored and dumped it.
DAOC has ruined my life for MMOs hahaha

Eyyyyyy does ANYONE ever come here anymore? Well, I mean I know no one does, obviously since no posts since 2014, but I wonder if anyone will see this? remember these forums? Anyone still play games or even play shit as a group anymore? With the CU stuff coming up I randomly stumbled back onto these forums and had a nostalgic blast from the past....I've actually been playing DAOC again for a little over a month.
Anyhow, doubt anyone will see this or anything but figured I would dredge up some old times and hope for a reply of some kind. Hope everyone is well. Take care!
